Heads up First Bank customers, the bank has announced that it will
be shutting down operations nationwide from Thursday to Monday.
According to the Punch, the bank explained that the temporary shut down is to allow for systems upgrade in branches nationwide.
First Bank will be upgrading its core banking application from Finacle 7 to Finacle 10 for all of its 700 branches across Nigeria.
Be warned, the shut down is total, affecting Point of Sale transitions, SMS alerts, and card services, except the Visa prepaid card.
First Bank said in an explanatory note: “All
transactions that will impact on the banking
platform e.g. settlements, inter bank (RTGS,
NEFT, FIP) inflows, will not be available.”
In a message sent to customers, the bank’s Group Managing Director, Mr Bisi Onasanya, apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that it was all part of First Bank’s “ongoing transformation”.
“This is a major project and on account of the technical requirements, we regret that there will be some disruptions to our services for about three days, while the upgrade is ongoing.”
